In this neighbourhood this dilapidated building was once a fish market that was burnt down some years ago; it is now being used as the sporting facility in the area. The youths and the children use this building to play football and other sports to entertain themselves. One can deduce the level poverty that is experienced by the residents in Sea Lots. The huge stadiums of the city is located just a few miles away and the persons living in Seal Lots suffer the consequences of gentrification where they have to settle for unacceptable means of survival and the government pays little or no heed to them. Refurbishment and renovation of this building is needed urgently to provide a proper sporting facility for the residents since it is uncertain when the roofing may collapse and seriously injure someone.

“The assumption that urban areas are initially inhabited by minority populations and are stereotyped as bad neighborhoods with run down houses and unemployed people.” (Janelle Vandergrift, 2006)

Sea Lots is stereotyped as a rundown neighborhood and the rundown houses are evident. The unemployment level is high as well because a lot of persons are uneducated and unskilled. The area is highly stigmatized as an area of rampant murders and robberies, but after strolling through the community and interviewing some persons, that negative assumption is undoubtedly incorrect. The area is simply a small community thriving to cope with the high levels of inequality they experience on a daily basis due to being marginalized
