The level of development in Sea Lots and the inner
parts of the city can be compared through the many differences in
infrastructure, culture and politics. In Sea Lots the highly utilized medium of
infrastructure is ply-wood sheets and galvanizes and can be compared to the
huge, high rise, concrete and glass buildings that are located in the city.
The
lack of development is visible as the power of the state is focused on the city
and the gentrified areas are disadvantaged in terms of proper governance that
is much needed in Sea Lots.
“Local movers came disproportionately from lower
status socioeconomic categories and evinced a relatively high rate of downward
mobility.” This is evident in the downward mobility of the sea lots residents
that have a low quality of life. (Michal Lyons, 1996)
