The differences in housing and infrastructure can be comprehended in this picture. The poorly constructed houses at the top are located in Sea Lots, this area is due to mass gentrification some meters away and the conditions of houses are extremely deprived. However the house in the middle is located in the city and it varies as it relates to the time of which it was constructed and the target population.
Some houses on Port of Spain can be classified as ancient abandoned buildings that were once used to house wealthy people. Interviewing persons only the route mentioned that this type of infrastructural design in being wipe out of the city, this particular house is merely the only one that still stands without being refurbished. As the study of time and space is understood, the huge hotels located in the city such as the Courtyard hotel and the Hyatt Regency, is provided for the foreigners and high income class earners that often visit this island or are seeking a vacation. Even though these structures are very close to each other, the time it was built and the space it occupies are the influences that must be considered when trying to understand its existence.

“The displacement of progressively better off households may be expected as they make housing and investment choices entailing neighborhood moves, satisfying requirements which they are progressively less able to satisfy in gentrifying neighborhoods. The hypothesis is put forward here that in addition to the undoubted displacement of low status households, outmigration by progressively higher status households is likely to occur.” The residents in Sea Lots are basically forced out of the city and the higher status hotels occupy the space within the city.
